I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt

of Lieutenant-General Norton's despatch No. 15 of the

22nd of January, and to inform you that His Majesty

has been pleased to give directions for the definitive

appointment of Mr. Li Tae-fong to be an Unofficial

Member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong, in

succession to Dr. Li Shu-fan, whose appointment

expired on the 16th of January, 1941.
